Thursday, July 09, 2020
If I had to pick one favorite from all the gastronomical delights in the city of Mysore, Churmuri it is !! Our trips to Mysore is never complete without eating Churmuri, every single time.
For the uninitiated, Churmuri is like Bhel Puri (But they both are not the same 😀 )
Made with Puffed Rice, Onions, Tomatoes & Carrots, the highlight is the use of Red Chilli Powder & Coconut Oil which is a huge flavor bomb & it is what makes Churmuri so different & Special.
Serves 3
You Will Need:
- 5 cups Kadle Puri/Puffed Rice
- 3/4th teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 tablespoon Coconut Oil/Peanut Oil
- 1 medium sized onion - finely chopped
- 2 medium sized Tomatoes (Ripe but Firm) - finely chopped
- 1/2 medium sized Carrot - peeled & grated
- 2 tablespoon grated Raw Mango
- 3 tablespoon Congress Kadlekai
- 1/2 cup Mixture (I used Store Bought)
- 2 Green chilies - deseeded & chopped (Optional)
- Juice of Half a Lime
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon chopped Coriander
How To:
In a large bowl, add Puffed Rice
In a small bowl, add 1.2 teaspoon turmeric powder & 3/4th teaspoon Red Chilli Powder. Mix in 2 tablespoon edible coconut Oil or Peanut Oil & whisk well
Add this mixture to the puffed rice & mix well
Add in chopped onions, tomatoes, carrots, grated raw mangoes, Chopped Green chilies if using, Congress Kadlekai, Mixture, Salt, lime juice & chopped coriander & mix well for the flavors to blend in
Divide them into individual serving bowls & serve immediately
You can up your Churmuri game by making a Special version of churmuri by adding crushed Nippattu & even crushed Kodbale .. It tastes amazing
Also, if you don't have Congress Kadlekai on hand, replace them with regular salted & roasted peanuts
