Amaranth Greens Sasive | Mosaru Sasive | ದಂಟಿನ ಸೊಪ್ಪಿನ ಮೊಸರು ಸಾಸಿವೆ
Thursday, September 23, 2021An Easy recipe that I'd been meaning to share for a long time .. The difference between Sasive or Mosaru Sasive & Mosaru Bajji is the addition of Mustard Seeds while grinding the Coconut Paste
The Addition of Mustard seeds while grinding gives it a subtly Pungent & wonderful flavor
You Will Need:
- 1 Bunch Amaranth Greens | Dantina Soppu
- 2-3 Cups of Yogurt
- Salt as per Taste
To Grind:
- 1/3 Cup Grated Coconut
- 3/4 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 3 Green Chilies
To Temper:
- 1 tablespoon Cooking Oil
- 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- A big pinch of Asafoetida
- 2 Dry Broken Red Chilies
How To:
Finely Chop the Amaranth Greens. Chop the Tender Stems as well. They taste delicious. Wash using a colander & drain well
Boil the chopped greens using less than a quarter cup of water & 1.4 teaspoon Salt. It should take 3-4 minutes to be fully cooked
If there is a lot of excess water after cooking, drain & set the greens aside in a bowl
Grind Grated Coconut, Mustard seeds & Green chilies into a smooth paste using a splash of water
Mix in the ground paste & Yogurt along with Greens. Add Salt to taste
Heat Oil in a small Pan & temper with Mustard Seeds, Asafoetida & Red Chilies. Pour this over the Mixture & Mix well
Serve Mosaru Sasive along with Steamed Rice, Saaru & some Fryums on the side for a Yum Meal
NOTE:
You can substitute Amaranth Greens with either Spinach / Malabar Spinach (Basale Soppu) / Bathua or Swiss Chard
